🚚 Free UK shipping on orders over £50 🪴
Okatsune Secateurs No.103 are classic standard-size Japanese bypass secateurs known for their simplicity, sharpness and strength. Made in Onomichi, Japan, they use hard Hitachi carbon steel blades and a direct, uncomplicated cutting action that produces crisp, clean cuts for everyday garden pruning.
The No.103 is Okatsune's standard-size secateur and will suit most gardeners. Its 55mm blades are rated for stems and branches up to approximately 15mm diameter, making it a versatile choice for pruning shrubs, woody stems and general garden growth.
The chunky lower catch has a crisp, positive action and is easy to operate even with cold, wet or gloved hands, while the spring is securely seated to reduce the chance of it becoming dislodged during use. The distinctive red and white vinyl handles are an Okatsune signature: the red is easy to spot during the day, while the white handle remains more visible in lower light.
Are Okatsune No.103 Secateurs Right for Me?
Choose the No.103 if you want a simple, well-balanced pair of Japanese secateurs for regular garden pruning and prefer a traditional direct action without unnecessary mechanisms or adjustment. The standard size is designed to suit most hands and provides enough cutting capacity for shrubs, woody stems and everyday garden maintenance.

How to Use Okatsune Secateurs
For thicker stems within the recommended cutting capacity, position the material towards the base of the blades where the secateurs have the greatest leverage. Avoid twisting or forcing the tool through branches that are too large or hard; use loppers or a pruning saw for more substantial woody growth.
How to Care for Okatsune Secateurs
Hitachi carbon steel takes and holds an excellent cutting edge but should be kept clean and dry to prevent staining and rust. Remove sap and residue after use with the Niwaki Mini Clean Mate, protect the blades periodically with Niwaki Camellia Oil, and sharpen as required using the Niwaki #1000 Sharpening Stone.
