Niwaki Mini Clean Mate (Crean Mate) – a brilliant little scouring block for removing resin, rust and general gunk from your blades. The packaging still says “Crean Mate” but Niwaki now refer to it as “Clean Mate”, so we use both to avoid confusion.
Add a few drops of Camellia Oil to the blade (water works too, but oiling afterwards is recommended) and use the Clean Mate just like a rubber. Its rough texture is highly effective, but may scratch polished surfaces – test on a small area first if you’re cleaning a prized tool.
