Drop forged and hand finished in Yamagata, Japan, they combine robust S58C carbon steel with excellent balance, precision and a reassuringly direct cutting action.

The 55mm blades hold a sharp edge and are rated for cuts up to approximately 15mm diameter, making the GR Pro Standard well suited to regular pruning of shrubs, woody stems and general garden growth. A strong spring and solid lower catch give a smooth, reliable action, while the bright yellow vinyl grips are comfortable in use and easy to spot when put down in the garden. The grips can also be removed if you prefer a more traditional appearance.

How to Use Niwaki GR Pro Secateurs

For thicker stems, position the material as deep into the V of the blade and bypass as possible, where the secateurs have the greatest leverage. Cut diagonally and avoid twisting the tool during the cut. The 15mm maximum cutting diameter is a guide: the hardness and condition of the wood also affect how difficult a cut will be.

If a branch requires excessive force, switch to a pruning saw or loppers rather than risk damaging the blade.

How to Care for Niwaki GR Pro Secateurs

S58C carbon steel takes and holds an excellent cutting edge but should be kept clean and dry to prevent staining and rust. Remove sap and residue after use with the Niwaki Mini Clean Mate, protect the blades periodically with Niwaki Camellia Oil, and sharpen as required using the Niwaki #1000 Sharpening Stone.
