Niwaki Loppers

Niwaki Loppers – traditional Japanese garden lopping shears forged for thicker branches and tougher pruning jobs. These tools combine solid, forged carbon steel blades with stout white oak handles for a satisfying cutting action and long-lasting performance.

Unlike modern loppers with ratchets or shock absorbers, these use the natural flex and strength of the wood handle to deliver power with smooth precision. They’re built to tackle thicker stems and branches up to about Ø25 mm (depending on wood type and technique), and are perfect for roses, shrubs and mid-sized woody growth.

Tool care made easy: To keep your loppers performing beautifully for years, remove sap, resin and debris with our Niwaki Crean Mate, then protect the blades with a thin coat of Camellia Oil. Regular cleaning and light oiling helps prevent rust and prolongs sharpness. 

Best usage: perfect for pruning mid-sized woody stems and branches. Use smooth, diagonal cuts and leverage the full blade length for best results. Avoid twisting the blades or applying uneven pressure. If the blades become dull over time, a quality sharpening stone will restore the edge.
