Anthurium are native to South America and the Caribbean. Most Anthurium are epiphytes and are often found growing on trees in humid environments. Common names for Anthurium includes Flamingo Plant, Laceleaf and Painter's Palette.
The Anthurium genus is renowned for the commonly seen varieties with colourful, long-lasting blooms (which are actually called 'spathes'). These colourful leaves can last as long as 6 weeks before dying back. However, there are far more rarer forms of Anthurium which are sought-after for their impressive leaves rather than their spathes.
