add a pot to fit this plant

Anthurium ‘Royal White Champion’ is an elegant flowering houseplant with glossy, heart-shaped green leaves and crisp white spathes. The contrast between its fresh white blooms and rich green foliage gives it a simple, timeless appearance, equally lovely as a gift or an addition to your own plant collection.

Supplied in a 12cm diameter nursery pot at approximately 35cm tall, ‘Royal White Champion’ is a compact choice for shelves, side tables and bright windowsills. Pair it with a neutral decorative pot for a soft look, or a darker glaze to highlight the white flowers.

What Makes ‘Royal White Champion’ Special?

The showy white “flowers” are actually modified leaves called spathes. Each surrounds a central spike, known as the spadix, which carries the plant’s tiny true flowers.

These long-lasting spathes provide weeks of interest, while the glossy foliage keeps the plant looking attractive between flowering periods. With suitable light, warmth and care, Anthuriums can produce new flowers throughout the year.

Light & Position

Position in bright, indirect light. A spot near an east-facing window or behind a sheer curtain in a sunnier room works well.

Avoid strong direct sunshine, which can scorch the leaves. Too little light can reduce flowering, so choose a bright position rather than a shaded corner.

Watering

Allow the upper few centimetres of compost to dry before watering again. Check below the surface with your finger rather than watering to a fixed schedule.

Water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain freely. Never leave the nursery pot standing in water inside a decorative pot or saucer.

Water less frequently during the darker months as growth slows. Use room-temperature water; rainwater is particularly useful if your tap water is hard.

Humidity & Temperature

Anthuriums appreciate humid air and consistent warmth. A bright bathroom or kitchen can work well, provided the plant receives enough natural light.

Aim for temperatures around 18–25°C. Keep away from cold draughts, radiators and other sources of hot, dry air.

Feeding

Feed regularly during spring and summer with a fertiliser suitable for Anthuriums, following the manufacturer’s dilution and frequency instructions.

Reduce feeding when growth slows during autumn and winter.

Repotting

Repot when the roots have filled the nursery pot, usually every two to three years. Move up by only one pot size to avoid surrounding the roots with too much compost that stays wet.

Choose an airy, slightly acidic potting mix with good drainage. Orchid bark and perlite can help create the open structure Anthurium roots appreciate. Always use a pot with drainage holes.
