Tradescantia 'Nanouk'

Tradescantia ‘Nanouk’, also known as Fantasy Venice, is a colourful trailing houseplant with fleshy leaves striped in soft pink, green, cream and silver, often with a purple flush beneath. Compact when young and increasingly trailing as it grows, it adds instant colour to shelves, desks and small hanging displays.

Fast-growing and easy to propagate, ‘Nanouk’ responds well to regular trimming. Pinching or cutting back longer stems encourages denser, bushier growth and helps keep the plant looking full.

Light & Position

Prefers bright, indirect or filtered light. Good light helps maintain the strongest pink and cream colouring, while plants kept in lower light may become greener and more stretched. Avoid prolonged harsh direct sunlight, which can scorch the foliage.

Watering

Allow the upper 1–2cm of compost to dry before watering thoroughly, then let excess water drain away. Avoid keeping the compost permanently wet and reduce watering during winter as growth slows.

Water the compost rather than the foliage where possible. Keeping the leaves dry helps reduce the risk of spotting and damage.

Humidity & Temperature

Tradescantia ‘Nanouk’ adapts well to normal household humidity and does not require regular misting. Keep in warm indoor conditions and away from cold draughts.

Feeding

Feed approximately once a month during spring and summer with a balanced liquid houseplant fertiliser while the plant is actively growing. Reduce or stop feeding during winter.

Pruning & Propagation

Trim or pinch back long stems whenever needed to maintain a compact, bushy shape. Stem cuttings root readily, making ‘Nanouk’ one of the easiest houseplants to propagate and share.
