Portulacaria afra ‘Variegata’, commonly known as the Variegated Elephant Bush, is a bright, easy-care succulent with small, rounded leaves edged in soft cream and green. Its compact, branching habit gives it a relaxed, sculptural look, similar to a jade plant but lighter and more delicate.
This drought-tolerant plant is perfect for sunny windowsills, shelves or desks, adding a fresh, uplifting touch of greenery to indoor spaces. Over time, it can develop into a small, bonsai-like specimen with woody stems.
Care & positioning
Place in bright light, including some direct sun if possible. Allow the compost to dry out completely between waterings, as the leaves store moisture. Avoid overwatering, especially in winter.

Also known as Spekboom in its native South Africa. A resilient, long-lived succulent that is easy to shape and maintain.

Care Instructions
Light
This plant prefers bright conditions. Direct sunlight is beneficial to this plant, however be cautious of letting it scorch in midday summer sun.
Water
Thoroughly water the compost and allow it to dry out before re-watering. Water less in winter and allow the compost to remain drier for longer.
Food
Feed once a month through spring and summer with a quality liquid plant food. There is no need to feed this plant in the winter months.
Humidity
This plant is native to arid climates and therefore does not require any additional humidity. Do not mist this plant.
