Large Ficus Ginseng Bonsai Terrarium – Aged Cork
The Large Ficus Ginseng Bonsai Terrarium – Aged Cork is a striking planted glass terrarium centred around a sculptural Ficus microcarpa 'Ginseng'. Its distinctive thick trunk and glossy green foliage create a miniature tree-like landscape inside a tall glass vessel, finished with a textured aged cork lid.
At approximately 40cm high, this is the larger version of our popular Ficus Ginseng Bonsai Terrarium, giving the planting more height, presence and impact while remaining relatively low maintenance.
Each terrarium is individually planted, so the shape of the Ficus, moss and accompanying plants will naturally vary from one piece to another.
Where to Position Your Bonsai Terrarium
Place in bright, indirect or filtered light. Ficus needs good natural light to stay healthy, but avoid prolonged strong direct sunlight, which can quickly overheat the glass vessel.
Keep away from radiators, cold draughts and other areas with large temperature fluctuations. A warm, bright room with relatively stable conditions is ideal.
How to Water Your Bonsai Terrarium
The enclosed environment retains moisture extremely well, so this terrarium should need only occasional watering. Check the compost and condensation rather than watering to a fixed schedule.
Light condensation on part of the glass is normal. If there has been little or no condensation for several days and the compost appears dry, remove the cork and add only a small amount of water using a fine mister.
Avoid saturating the compost or allowing water to collect at the bottom of the vessel. Ficus prefers moist but well-drained growing conditions, so persistent excess moisture should be avoided.
What If There Is Too Much Condensation?
If the glass remains heavily fogged or covered with large droplets throughout the day, remove the cork for a few hours to allow excess moisture to escape. Replace it once the condensation has reduced.
Occasional light condensation is completely normal and does not need to be wiped away.
Does a Bonsai Terrarium Need Feeding?
Generally, additional feeding is unnecessary. The aim is to maintain compact, controlled growth rather than encourage the Ficus and surrounding plants to grow rapidly and outgrow the terrarium.

Care Instructions
Light
Prefers bright, indirect light. Do not place in direct sunlight as this can scorch the plants and also create too high a temperature inside the vessel.
Water
Terrariums rarely require watering if kept sealed. If the soil looks dry, mist water in to the vessel. Pouring water can cause a muddy splash!
Food
Generally, the plants inside a terrarium do not need fed as this can cause them to quickly outgrow the space.
Humidity
If condensation appears on the glass remove the cork until this clears. Too much water in the tearrium will cause the plants to rot.
