Calathea orbifolia, now botanically classified as Goeppertia orbifolia, is one of the most striking foliage houseplants, admired for its large, rounded leaves patterned with elegant silver-green stripes. Its bold foliage creates an instant statement and brings a lush tropical feel to living rooms, bedrooms and home offices.
Native to Bolivia, it naturally grows beneath the tropical forest canopy where it receives filtered light, warmth and consistent moisture. Like other members of the Marantaceae family, its leaves gently change position throughout the day in response to light.
This larger specimen is perfect for creating impact in the home. It thrives in bright, indirect light, with evenly moist compost and moderate to high humidity. It is also considered non-toxic to cats and dogs, making it a great choice for pet-friendly homes.

Care Instructions
Light
Position out of any direct sunight! If in a shadier spot, the plant will offer less growth and require less water.
Water
Thoroughly water, then allow the top 3 to 4cm of compost to dry before re-watering. Water less in winter when the plant is growing more slowly. Over-watering can cause root rot.
Food
Feed every second time you water through spring and summer with a quality liquid plant food. There is no need to feed this plant in winter.
Humidity
This plant enjoys humidity. Place in a bathroom and/or mist regularly with water.
