Bergs Potter Julie Pot & Saucer Set – Rosa Terracotta

The Bergs Potter Julie Pot & Saucer Set in Rosa Terracotta is one of the simplest and most timeless designs in the Bergs Potter collection. Designed by Ninetta Mariani in Milan in 1960, Julie is defined by clean, minimal lines that allow the plant itself to remain the focus.

Handcrafted from premium Galestro terracotta clay, the unglazed pot is naturally porous, allowing air and moisture to move through the clay and creating a healthy environment around plant roots. The warm Rosa Terracotta finish has a soft, natural character that develops a distinctive patina with use and age.

Each size is supplied as a complete pot and matching saucer set. The pot has a drainage hole for direct planting, while the raw terracotta saucer is specially silicone-treated by Bergs Potter to make it waterproof for indoor use.

How to Use Your Bergs Potter Julie

The Julie pot is designed for direct planting. Before planting, Bergs Potter recommends thoroughly soaking raw terracotta inside and out, then adding suitable compost and positioning your plant at the same depth as before.

You can also sit a plant in its nursery pot inside the Julie where the dimensions allow, although always check the internal fit before choosing your size.

When repotting directly, avoid choosing a pot unnecessarily larger than the plant's root system. Bergs Potter recommends a pot around 5–10cm wider than the plant's current root ball to provide space for future growth.

Caring for Rosa Terracotta

Raw terracotta is naturally porous, so the colour of the Julie pot will deepen when wet and lighten again as it dries. Over time, minerals from water and compost may appear on the surface and create a natural pale patina. This is part of the character of unglazed terracotta rather than a fault.

For cleaning, simply brush or wash away loose dirt and allow the pot to dry naturally.

Can Bergs Potter Julie Pots Be Used Outdoors?

Yes. Bergs Potter's raw terracotta pots are frost-resistant and suitable for outdoor use as well as indoors. Good drainage is particularly important during winter: keep the drainage hole clear and avoid allowing the pot or saucer to remain full of standing water during freezing conditions.
