Bergs Potter — Handmade Danish Terracotta Pots
Designed in Copenhagen, Denmark and handcrafted in Tuscany, Italy, Bergs Potter pots are among the finest terracotta plant pots in the world. Each pot is shaped and fired using traditional methods, producing a naturally breathable material that is as beautiful as it is beneficial for your plants.
At grow urban. in Edinburgh, we are proud to be one of the UK's leading stockists of Bergs Potter. Whether you're looking for a statement piece for a large indoor plant or a delicate pot and saucer set for a windowsill succulent, there is a Bergs Potter pot for every plant and every space.
The Bergs Potter Story
Rooted in Scandinavian design tradition, Bergs Potter combines the clean, considered aesthetic of Copenhagen with the centuries-old craft of Italian terracotta making. Each pot is designed in Denmark and handcrafted by skilled artisans in Tuscany, one of Europe's most celebrated pottery regions.
The result is a pot that doesn't just hold a plant, it becomes part of your home's story, developing a natural patina and character over time.
The Collections — Shape & Size Guide
Bergs Potter produces a range of shapes and sizes to suit every plant and interior. Here's a guide to the key ranges we stock at grow urban.:
Copenhagen (Københavner) Pot & Saucer
The Copenhagen pot and saucer is Bergs Potter's most iconic shape: a classic, straight-sided terracotta pot with a matching saucer. Clean Scandinavian lines make it a versatile choice for everything from trailing pothos to structural snake plants. It is also available in the signature Rosa Terracotta Copenhagen pot and saucer finish.
Julie Pot & Saucer
The Julie pot and saucer features a gently tapered silhouette with a slightly wider rim, making it ideal for bushy, mounding plants like peace lilies, ferns and calatheas. The Rosa Terracotta colourway gives it a warm, blush tone that pairs beautifully with earthy interiors.
Fleur Pot & Saucer
The Fleur pot and saucer has a soft, decorative shape that feels romantic without being fussy. It is a beautiful choice for flowering plants, trailing houseplants and softer interior schemes.
Hoff Pot & Saucer
The Hoff pot and saucer has a more contemporary feel, pairing clean proportions with contrasting colour combinations. Its wider shape makes it ideal for shallow-rooted plants, succulents and mixed seasonal arrangements.
Modena Pot
The Modena pot is a more sculptural Bergs Potter design, with strong lines and a substantial feel. It works beautifully as a statement pot for larger plants, while the glazed green Modena pot offers a richer, more decorative finish for indoor spaces.
Pantheon Pot
The Pantheon pot is inspired by classical architecture, with a bold silhouette that feels timeless and elegant. It is a strong choice for larger indoor plants, outdoor planting and statement displays.
Sizing tip: Bergs Potter pots are measured by their internal diameter. When repotting, choose a pot 2–4 cm wider than your plant's current root ball. Not sure when to repot? Read our repotting guide →
Caring for Your Bergs Potter Terracotta Pot
Why terracotta?
Terracotta is a naturally porous material, which means air and moisture can pass through the pot walls. This is excellent for plant health because roots can breathe more freely and the risk of overwatering is reduced compared to glazed or plastic pots.
The patina
Over time, your Bergs Potter pot will develop a natural white patina caused by mineral salts migrating through the terracotta. This is completely normal and, for many, part of the charm. To slow the process, use filtered or rainwater where possible.
Cleaning
Rinse with warm water and a soft brush. Avoid soap or detergent, which can be absorbed into the terracotta and may harm your plants. For stubborn mineral deposits, a diluted white vinegar solution works well.
Frost care
Bergs Potter pots are frost-resistant and suitable for outdoor use throughout the UK. As with any terracotta pot, good drainage is essential to prevent standing water freezing inside the pot during very cold weather.
