A distinctive plant with a swollen thick stem that stores water, the Ponytail Palm hales from the dry regions of Mexico and is both curious and beautiful.
It will survive in a shadier area but will flourish and grow quicker where more light is provided. Allow the compost to dry out between waterings and do not pour water on to the trunk. It can survive down to 7C. Feed fortnightly in spring and summer.
