Aglaonema ‘Chartreuse Pretty’ Large

Aglaonema ‘Chartreuse Pretty’ is a beautifully colourful Chinese Evergreen with broad leaves in luminous shades of chartreuse, lime and soft yellow-green, edged with deeper green and finished with delicate pink-toned veins. This larger specimen makes much more of an impact, with a fuller, more established shape and masses of colourful foliage.

Supplied in a generous 19cm diameter nursery pot at approximately 45cm+ tall, this is an impressive, established plant that works beautifully as a statement on a plant stand, sideboard or larger piece of furniture. Its unusual pastel colouring brings brightness to a room without relying on flowers.

Light & Position

Aglaonema ‘Chartreuse Pretty’ grows best in bright, indirect light. Its pale, colourful foliage benefits from more light than many darker-leaved Aglaonemas, helping to maintain the strongest chartreuse and pink colouring.

It will tolerate somewhat lower light, although growth may slow and the foliage can become greener. Avoid prolonged strong direct sunshine, which may scorch the leaves.

Watering

Allow the upper few centimetres of compost to dry before watering thoroughly, then allow all excess water to drain away. Aglaonemas are relatively forgiving of an occasional missed watering but dislike sitting in permanently wet compost.

With a larger specimen plant, always check the compost below the surface before watering rather than relying on a fixed schedule, as a 19cm pot can retain moisture for considerably longer than a small nursery pot.

Water less frequently during autumn and winter when growth naturally slows.

Humidity & Temperature

‘Chartreuse Pretty’ is well suited to normal household humidity, although it will also appreciate slightly more humid conditions.

Keep it warm and away from cold draughts. Normal indoor temperatures suit it well, ideally around 18–27°C, and prolonged temperatures below 15°C are best avoided.

Feeding

Feed approximately once a month during spring and summer using a balanced liquid houseplant fertiliser while the plant is actively growing.

Reduce or stop feeding during autumn and winter.

Growth & Care

Aglaonema ‘Chartreuse Pretty’ naturally develops a full, leafy and upright habit. On a more mature specimen like this, multiple stems and layers of broad foliage create a particularly lush, substantial appearance.

When repotting, use a good quality, free-draining houseplant compost and move up only one pot size. Wipe the broad leaves gently from time to time to remove dust and keep their unusual colouring looking its best.
