Tradescantia zebrina, commonly known as the Inch Plant, is a colourful trailing houseplant with beautifully striped foliage in shades of silver, green and deep purple. Its fast-growing stems create a lush cascading effect, making it perfect for shelves, hanging planters and plant stands.
Native to Mexico and Central America, Tradescantia zebrina is valued for its vigorous growth and striking foliage. In brighter conditions, the leaf colouring becomes particularly vivid, bringing an instant splash of colour to an indoor plant collection.
Light & Position
Prefers bright to medium, indirect light. Brighter light will help maintain strong colouring, although harsh direct sunlight should be avoided.
Watering
Water when the top layer of compost begins to dry out. Keep the soil lightly moist during the growing season, but avoid leaving the plant sitting in water.
Care
Feed every few weeks during spring and summer with a diluted houseplant fertiliser. Pinching or trimming longer stems will encourage fuller, bushier growth.
