Stripe Jar Planted Terrarium – Aged Cork
The Stripe Jar Planted Terrarium – Aged Cork is a substantial closed terrarium designed as a living statement piece. Its generous striped glass vessel is finished with a textured aged cork lid and planted with a changing selection of small tropical plants to create a lush miniature landscape.
At approximately 35cm high and 25cm wide, this is one of our larger planted terrariums, with enough scale to make an impact on a sideboard, console, large shelf or table. Each terrarium is individually planted, so the exact selection, size and arrangement of plants will naturally vary.
How Does a Closed Terrarium Work?
Once sealed, moisture circulates between the compost, plants and glass, creating a naturally humid miniature growing environment. A well-balanced closed terrarium therefore requires very little additional watering once established.
Where to Position Your Terrarium
Place in bright, indirect light and keep away from prolonged direct sunlight. Strong sun can quickly raise the temperature inside the glass and damage the plants.
Keep away from radiators and other strong heat sources, and avoid very dark positions. A bright room with plenty of natural light but no intense direct sun is ideal.
How to Water a Closed Terrarium
Closed terrariums should need very little watering. Light condensation on part of the glass is normal and indicates that moisture is circulating within the terrarium.
If there has been little or no condensation for several days and the compost appears dry, remove the cork and add only a small amount of water using a fine mister. Water sparingly: it is much easier to add a little more later than to correct an overwatered terrarium.
What If There Is Too Much Condensation?
If the glass remains heavily misted or covered in large droplets throughout the day, remove the cork for a few hours to allow some excess moisture to escape. Replace the lid once the condensation has reduced.
Occasional light condensation is completely normal and does not need to be wiped away.

Care Instructions
Light
Prefers bright, indirect light. Do not place in direct sunlight as this can scorch the plants and also create too high a temperature inside the vessel.
Water
Terrariums rarely require watering if kept sealed. If the soil looks dry, mist water in to the vessel. Pouring water can cause a muddy splash!
Food
Generally, the plants inside a terrarium do not need fed as this can cause them to quickly outgrow the space.
Humidity
If condensation appears on the glass remove the cork until this clears. Too much water in the tearrium will cause the plants to rot.
