Senecio rowleyanus (hangpot)

String of Pearls (Senecio rowleyanus) is one of the most distinctive and sought-after trailing succulents, loved for its cascading stems of perfectly round, bead-like leaves. Whether displayed on a shelf, plant stand or in a hanging planter, its unusual appearance creates an instant focal point in any room.

Native to the arid regions of South Africa, this drought-tolerant succulent stores water within its spherical leaves, allowing it to cope well with periods of dryness. Given the right conditions, mature plants may produce small, white, cinnamon-scented flowers on slender stems.

String of Pearls thrives in a bright position with plenty of indirect light and can tolerate some gentle direct sun. Allow the compost to dry out between waterings and always avoid overwatering, which is the most common cause of problems. For best results, water thoroughly from the bottom during the growing season and reduce watering significantly during winter.
