Senecio macroglossus ‘Variegatus’ (Variegated Wax Ivy) is a dramatic and easy-care climbing or trailing succulent houseplant with glossy, ivy-like leaves edged in creamy white. Native to southern Africa, this cultivar brings architectural interest and soft colour contrast to shelves, hanging baskets or small indoor trellises.
Despite its ivy-like look, this plant isn’t a true ivy but a succulent climber in the daisy family. Its thick, waxy leaves help it tolerate periods of drought, but it also enjoys consistent bright, indirect light to maintain vibrant variegation. Water thoroughly, then allow the top of the soil to dry out before watering again to avoid root rot. Use a well-draining soil mix and protect from temperatures below about 7 °C. Yellow, daisy-like flowers may appear in summer under good conditions.
