add a pot to fit this plant

Scindapsus ‘Silver Knight’ is an unusual collector’s Scindapsus prized for its thick, velvety foliage and dramatic silver colouring. Each leaf develops a broad wash of silvery grey over a deep green base, with darker green markings often remaining along the midrib and edges.

Compared with familiar varieties such as Scindapsus pictus ‘Argyraeus’, ‘Silver Knight’ has a much heavier silver finish and more substantial foliage, giving it a distinctive, almost metallic appearance.

Light & Position

Prefers bright, indirect or filtered light. Good light helps maintain the strongest silver colouring, while plants kept in lower light may grow more slowly and produce greener foliage. Avoid prolonged strong direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.

Watering

Allow the upper 2–3cm of compost to dry before watering thoroughly, then let excess water drain away. Scindapsus prefers an airy, free-draining growing medium and should not be left sitting in permanently wet compost.

Reduce watering during cooler or darker periods when growth naturally slows.

Humidity & Temperature

Scindapsus ‘Silver Knight’ appreciates warm, stable conditions and moderate to higher humidity, although good airflow is equally important. Keep away from cold draughts and direct heat sources.

Trailing or Climbing?

Young plants can be allowed to trail naturally, but Scindapsus is a climbing aroid. Providing a moss pole or other suitable support encourages more upright growth and can help the plant develop larger, more mature foliage over time.

Feeding

Feed approximately once a month during spring and summer with a balanced liquid houseplant fertiliser while the plant is actively growing. Reduce or stop feeding during winter.

Why You'll Love It

  • Heavy silver-grey colouring across the foliage
  • Thick, velvety leaves with contrasting dark green markings
  • Much more silver than common Scindapsus pictus varieties
  • Can be grown trailing or encouraged to climb
  • An unusual choice for collectors of Scindapsus and aroids
  • Each leaf develops its own individual silver pattern

Pet & Child Safety

Scindapsus is a member of the Araceae family and can be harmful if eaten. Keep out of reach of pets and young children.

Care Instructions

Light

Prefers indirect bright light and will tolerate direct sunlight in the morning or evening. If positioned in a shadier spot the plant will offer less growth and require less water.

Water

Thoroughly water, then allow the top few centimeters of compost to dry before re-watering. Water less in winter when the plant is growing more slowly. Over-watering can cause root rot.

Food

Feed every second time you water through spring and summer with a quality liquid plant food. There is no need to feed this plant in winter.

Humidity

This plant enjoys humidity. Place in a bathroom and/or mist regularly with water. Remove dust from the leaves with a damp cloth to improve photosynthesis.
