Radermachera sinica

Radermachera sinica, commonly known as the China Doll Plant, is an elegant evergreen houseplant with glossy, finely divided green foliage and a light, airy appearance. Its delicate leaves and soft branching habit give it an almost miniature tree-like form, making it a beautiful choice for shelves, sideboards and bright corners.

Native to the subtropical mountain regions of southern China and Taiwan, this plant is prized for its lush foliage and graceful growth habit. In the wild it can grow into a large tree, but indoors it remains compact and manageable with regular pruning.

China Doll Plants prefer a bright position with plenty of indirect light. Avoid strong direct sun, which can scorch the foliage, and try to keep conditions consistent, as sudden changes in temperature, watering or light can sometimes cause leaf drop.

Keep the compost lightly and evenly moist, allowing only the very top layer of soil to dry slightly between waterings. It enjoys warmth and moderate humidity, making it well suited to kitchens and bright bathrooms. Feed every two weeks during spring and summer to encourage healthy growth.

With regular trimming, Radermachera sinica can be kept bushy and compact, though left unpruned it will gradually develop into a taller, more architectural specimen.
