Calathea ornata | Pinstripe Calathea
Calathea ornata, commonly known as the Pinstripe Calathea, is one of the most elegant foliage houseplants you can grow. Its deep green leaves are beautifully marked with fine pink-white stripes, creating a delicate feathered pattern that gives this plant its distinctive name.
Native to the tropical rainforests of South America, Calathea ornata thrives in warm, humid conditions and prefers bright, indirect light. It’s a wonderful choice for adding colour, texture and softness to living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens or bright bathrooms.
Part of the Marantaceae family, Calathea are often known as Prayer Plants because of their gentle daily leaf movement. As light levels change, the leaves gradually rise and fall, making them some of the most fascinating foliage plants to have at home.
The Pinstripe Calathea is also considered pet friendly, making it a lovely option for homes with cats or dogs.

Plant care:
Place in bright, indirect light away from direct sun. Water thoroughly, then allow the top layer of compost to begin drying before watering again. Calathea ornata enjoys higher humidity, so it will appreciate a steamy kitchen or bathroom, or regular misting during drier months.
