Pilea peperomioides, commonly known as the Chinese Money Plant or Pancake Plant, is a much-loved houseplant famous for its perfectly round leaves and sculptural, modern form. Its bright green foliage grows on long, elegant stems, creating a striking architectural shape that suits any interior style.
Native to southern China, this semi-succulent plant is prized for being easy to care for and quick to produce offshoots, which can be potted up and shared — the reason it’s often called the “friendship plant.”
Care Tips:
• Light – Prefers moderate to bright, indirect light.
• Water – Allow soil to partially dry out before watering again; never leave roots sitting in water.
• Feed – Apply a balanced liquid fertiliser every two weeks from spring to summer.
• Rotation – Turn the pot regularly to encourage even growth.
