Philodendron hederaceum ‘Brasil’ is a colourful variegated form of the classic Heartleaf Philodendron, with glossy, heart-shaped green leaves streaked and splashed with lime and golden-yellow variegation.
Fast-growing, adaptable and easy to care for, ‘Brasil’ can be left to trail naturally from a shelf or hanging planter, or trained upwards on a moss or coir pole for a more structured climbing display.
Light & Position
Prefers bright, indirect or filtered light. Good light helps maintain the strongest lime and golden variegation, while plants kept in lower light may become greener and grow more slowly. Avoid prolonged strong direct sunlight, which can scorch the foliage.
Watering
Allow the upper 2–3cm of compost to dry before watering thoroughly, then let excess water drain away. Avoid keeping the compost permanently wet. Reduce watering slightly during winter as growth slows.
Humidity & Temperature
Philodendron ‘Brasil’ adapts well to normal household humidity and warm indoor conditions. Keep away from cold draughts and direct heat sources.
Trailing or Climbing?
Left unsupported, ‘Brasil’ will produce long trailing stems that look particularly effective cascading from shelves and hanging planters. Alternatively, train it upwards on a moss or coir pole to encourage more upright growth and increasingly mature foliage.
Feeding
Feed approximately once a month during spring and summer with a balanced liquid houseplant fertiliser while the plant is actively growing. Reduce or stop feeding during winter.
