Peperomia ‘Hope’ (mini)

Peperomia ‘Hope’ is a charming trailing houseplant with small, fleshy, rounded green leaves arranged along soft cascading stems. Its compact size and gently trailing growth make it perfect for shelves, desks and smaller spaces where you want to add a little greenery without taking up much room.

Supplied in a tiny 5.5cm nursery pot at approximately 10cm tall, this is a lovely little starter plant that will gradually develop longer trailing stems as it grows. The fleshy leaves store some moisture, making Peperomia ‘Hope’ relatively forgiving and easy to care for.

Light & Position

Give Peperomia ‘Hope’ plenty of bright, indirect or filtered light. It will tolerate moderate light, although brighter indirect light encourages stronger, more compact growth.

Avoid prolonged harsh direct sunshine through glass, which can scorch the foliage.

Watering

Allow the upper few centimetres of compost to dry before watering thoroughly, then allow all excess water to drain away. The fleshy leaves store moisture, so Peperomia ‘Hope’ is more tolerant of being slightly dry than of sitting in permanently wet compost.

Water less frequently during autumn and winter when growth naturally slows.

Humidity & Temperature

Peperomia ‘Hope’ adapts well to normal household humidity and prefers warm, stable indoor temperatures. Keep away from cold draughts and direct heat from radiators.

Feeding

Feed lightly during spring and summer while the plant is actively growing using a balanced liquid houseplant fertiliser. Reduce or stop feeding during autumn and winter.

Growth & Care

As it matures, Peperomia ‘Hope’ develops increasingly long trailing stems, making it particularly well suited to a shelf, plant stand or small hanging planter.

Pinching back particularly long stems can encourage a fuller, bushier plant, and healthy stem cuttings are also easy to propagate.
