Pachyphytum oviferum 'Rubra', commonly known as Moonstones, is a beautiful compact succulent prized for its plump, rounded leaves in soft shades of pink, lilac and silvery blue. In bright light, the foliage develops even richer rosy tones, making this cultivar especially eye-catching throughout the year.
Native to the rocky landscapes of Mexico, Moonstones are wonderfully easy to care for and thrive in bright, sunny positions. Their powdery, pastel-coloured leaves are coated in a natural protective bloom, so it's best to handle them as little as possible to preserve their beautiful finish.
Like other succulents, Pachyphytum oviferum 'Rubra' stores water in its fleshy leaves, making it highly drought tolerant. Allow the compost to dry out completely between waterings and reduce watering significantly during winter. Given plenty of sunshine and the right conditions, mature plants may produce delicate bell-shaped flowers in spring.
