Opuntia microdasys ‘Indigo’, commonly known as the Bunny Ear Cactus, is a beautifully sculptural houseplant with flattened, oval pads in soft blue-green tones edged with a subtle indigo hue. Its distinctive paired growth gives the impression of rabbit ears, creating a playful yet architectural silhouette.

This is a more unusual form of the classic Opuntia microdasys, offering a cooler, more muted colour palette that works effortlessly in modern interiors. The pads are covered in fine clusters of glochids (tiny hair-like spines), which catch the light and add texture — but should be handled with care.

Native to the arid regions of Mexico, Opuntia microdasys is adapted to bright, dry conditions and is exceptionally low maintenance. It’s ideal for sunny windowsills, where its clean form and unusual colouring can really stand out.

Given time, it will slowly branch and form a dense, sculptural cluster. In the right conditions, mature plants may produce soft yellow flowers, though it is primarily grown for its distinctive shape and colour. :contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0}
