Muehlenbeckia complexa

Muehlenbeckia complexa, commonly known as Wire Vine or Maidenhair Vine, is a distinctive evergreen plant with slender, dark wiry stems covered in tiny rounded green leaves. Its fine foliage and naturally scrambling growth create a beautiful cascading effect in pots, hanging baskets and containers.

Native to New Zealand, Muehlenbeckia is a vigorous and versatile plant that can be allowed to trail over the edge of a container or encouraged to climb with support. It works particularly well on patios, balconies and in sheltered gardens, but can also be grown indoors as an unusual trailing houseplant.

Light & Position

Outdoors, grow in full sun or partial shade in a sheltered position. Indoors, place in bright, indirect light for the healthiest growth.

Watering

Keep the compost lightly moist, allowing the surface to dry slightly between waterings. Water regularly during warmer weather and avoid prolonged periods of drought.

Care

Feed regularly during spring and summer and trim back longer stems as required to maintain its shape and encourage fresh, bushier growth.
