Meet the Marimo, a rare, naturally spherical form of deep green algae (Cladophora aegagropila) found in freshwater lakes in Japan, Iceland and Northern Europe. Despite often being called a “seaweed ball,” Marimo are actually soft, velvety algae that symbolise good luck, love and longevity.

These low-maintenance living ornaments make peaceful additions to shelves, desks or windowsills. Simply keep your Marimo in its glass jar filled with clean, tepid water and place it in low to medium light – avoiding direct sunlight. Refresh the water every couple of months and gently roll the Marimo between your hands to help it maintain its shape.
