The Maranta genus includes a few dozen low-growing plants native to the American tropics. The plant gets its common name from the leaf variegation and the fact that its leaves fold up like praying hands at night.
Prefers bright, indirect sunlight. Water frequently in the growing season and when the top of the soil is dry to the touch. Mist to increase humidity.
