Lavandula angustifolia, commonly known as English Lavender, is a compact evergreen shrub with beautifully aromatic, silvery-green foliage and richly coloured purple flower spikes. Flowering through summer, it brings fragrance, movement and classic Mediterranean character to patios, balconies and sunny garden spaces.
Loved by pollinators and gardeners alike, lavender is perfect for containers, borders and gravel gardens. The highly scented blooms can also be cut and dried for long-lasting fragrance indoors.
Lavender care
Light: Full sun is essential for strong growth and abundant flowering.
Water: Plant in well-drained compost and water thoroughly once the top inch of soil has dried. Avoid waterlogged soil.
Feeding: Feed lightly during spring and summer.
Pruning: Trim back lightly after flowering to maintain a neat, compact shape.
