Laurus nobilis (120cm)

Laurus nobilis, commonly known as the Bay Tree, is a classic evergreen shrub with glossy, aromatic leaves widely used in cooking. Trained as an elegant standard stem, it creates a strong architectural feature for patios, entrances and either side of a doorway.

Native to the Mediterranean region, Bay Trees are slow growing, long lived and particularly well suited to container growing. Their deep green leaves can be harvested fresh and used to flavour soups, stews, sauces and casseroles.

Light & Position

Prefers full sun or partial shade in a sheltered position. Protect from very exposed sites and harsh drying winds, particularly when grown in a container.

Watering

Water regularly during the growing season, allowing the surface of the compost to dry slightly between waterings. Container-grown Bay Trees may need more frequent watering during warm, dry weather.

Care

Feed regularly during spring and summer and prune in summer to maintain a neat, balanced shape. Established plants are hardy, although container-grown specimens benefit from some protection during prolonged periods of severe frost.
