Hoya 'Mathilde Splash'

Hoya ‘Mathilde Splash’ is a beautiful hybrid wax plant, bred from Hoya carnosa × Hoya serpens. It combines the compact, rounded foliage of its parentage with distinctive silver splash markings scattered across deep-green leaves.

Its flexible stems can be trained to climb around a hoop or support, or allowed to trail naturally from a shelf or elevated planter. Mature plants grown in good light can also produce clusters of fragrant, star-shaped Hoya flowers.

Light & Position

Give ‘Mathilde Splash’ plenty of bright, indirect light. A little gentle morning or evening sun can be beneficial, but avoid prolonged harsh midday sunlight through glass.

Watering

Allow most of the compost to dry before watering thoroughly, then let all excess water drain away. Hoya leaves store moisture, so it is much safer to keep the plant slightly too dry than constantly wet.

Water more sparingly during autumn and winter when growth slows.

Humidity & Temperature

Happy in normal household humidity and does not require regular misting. Keep in warm indoor conditions and away from cold draughts.

Feeding

Feed lightly approximately once a month during spring and summer with a balanced liquid houseplant fertiliser while the plant is actively growing. Reduce or stop feeding during autumn and winter.

Trailing or Climbing?

Hoya ‘Mathilde Splash’ can be grown either trailing or climbing. Let the stems cascade naturally, or train them around a support for a more upright display.
