Hoya kerrii, commonly known as the Sweetheart Plant or Heart-Leaf Hoya, is a much-loved houseplant with a thick, waxy, heart-shaped leaf. Grown as a single leaf cutting, this compact succulent-style plant is ideal for gifting, desks, shelves and collectors of unusual indoor plants.
Growth note: Single-leaf Hoya kerrii plants are grown for their decorative heart-shaped foliage and rarely develop trailing vines. This makes them a low-maintenance, slow-growing plant prized for form rather than size.
Hoya kerrii care: Allow the compost to dry out fully between waterings. Water sparingly in winter to avoid root rot. Place in bright, indirect light for best colour and health, though it will tolerate medium light levels. Feed with a balanced houseplant fertiliser twice a year – once in spring and once in summer.
