Hedera helix 'Mint Kolibri'

Hedera helix ‘Mint Kolibri’ is a beautifully variegated form of English Ivy, with small lobed leaves marbled in deep green, fresh mint and creamy white. Its trailing or climbing habit makes it an easy way to add colour and texture to shelves, hanging displays, patio pots and shaded outdoor containers.

More compact and decorative than many traditional ivies, ‘Mint Kolibri’ can be allowed to cascade naturally or trained to climb. Regular trimming will help keep the plant full and encourage fresh new growth.

Light & Position

Indoors, position in moderate to bright, indirect light. Because this is a variegated ivy, good light helps maintain the strongest mint and cream colouring. Avoid prolonged strong direct sunlight through glass.

Outdoors, it performs well in partial shade or bright shade and is particularly useful in containers, hanging baskets and mixed planting displays.

Watering

Water when the upper layer of compost has begun to dry, then water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain away. Aim to keep the compost lightly moist rather than permanently wet, and reduce watering during cooler periods.

Temperature & Humidity

English Ivy generally prefers cooler indoor conditions than many tropical houseplants and is well suited to bright, moderately heated rooms. Keep away from very hot radiators and excessively dry heat.

Pruning & Growth

Trim long stems whenever needed to control the size or encourage denser branching. Indoors it can trail from a shelf or hanging position, while outdoors it can be used in containers, as ground cover or trained to climb.
