Ficus microcarpa ‘Ginseng’ (30cm pot)
Ginseng Bonsai
Ficus microcarpa ‘Ginseng’ is a striking bonsai-style houseplant prized for its sculptural, bulbous trunk and glossy green foliage. The thick exposed roots create a distinctive architectural shape, giving the plant the appearance of a miniature tree that brings character and structure to interior spaces.
Often referred to as a Ginseng Ficus Bonsai, this plant is both decorative and relatively easy to care for. Native to Asia, it naturally grows as a tree in warm climates but adapts beautifully to indoor life as a compact bonsai specimen. Its clean form makes it perfect for sideboards, desks and bright living spaces where it can act as a living piece of sculpture.
During the warmer months it can be moved outdoors to a sheltered spot, where fresh air and gentle light will encourage strong growth. Protect from harsh midday sun and bring indoors again before temperatures drop.
Light: Bright indirect light is ideal, though it will tolerate moderate light levels.
Watering: Allow the top layer of soil to dry slightly between waterings.
Feeding: Feed monthly during spring and summer with a balanced houseplant fertiliser.

Care Instructions
Light
Prefers indirect bright light and will tolerate direct sunlight in the morning or evening. Ficus like to be warm, so keep away from cold draughts.
Water
Water thoroughly, then allow the top half of the compost to dry before rewatering. Over-watering will cause root rot.
Food
Feed every second time you water through spring and summer with a quality liquid plant food. There is no need to feed this plant in winter.
Humidity
This plant enjoys humidity. Mist regularly with water and remove dust from the leaves with a damp cloth to improve photosynthesis.
