Epipremnum ‘Marble Queen’

Epipremnum aureum ‘Marble Queen’, commonly known as the Marble Queen Pothos, is a beautifully variegated trailing houseplant with glossy green leaves heavily marbled and splashed with creamy white.

Each leaf develops its own individual pattern, with some emerging predominantly green and others much paler and more heavily marbled. Its flexible stems can be allowed to trail naturally from a shelf or elevated planter, or trained to climb a moss pole or other suitable support.

Light & Position

Give ‘Marble Queen’ moderate to bright, indirect light for the strongest variegation and healthy growth. It will tolerate lower light, but growth may become slower and new leaves can emerge greener.

Avoid prolonged harsh direct sunlight, which can scorch the paler areas of the foliage.

Watering

Allow the upper 2–3cm of compost to dry before watering thoroughly, then let all excess water drain away. Avoid keeping the compost permanently wet, as Epipremnum is much more tolerant of slight dryness than waterlogging.

Water less frequently during autumn and winter as growth slows.

Humidity & Temperature

Happy in normal household humidity and does not require regular misting. Keep in warm indoor conditions and away from cold draughts and direct heat sources.

Feeding

Feed approximately once a month during spring and summer with a balanced liquid houseplant fertiliser while the plant is actively growing. Reduce or stop feeding during autumn and winter.

Trailing or Climbing?

‘Marble Queen’ can be grown either trailing or climbing. Let the stems cascade from a shelf or planter, or provide a moss or coir pole for a more upright display. Given support and good growing conditions, mature leaves can become considerably larger.

Pruning & Propagation

Trim back long or sparse stems whenever needed to encourage branching and keep the plant looking full. Healthy stem cuttings root readily and can be propagated in water or suitable compost.
