Cyclamen persicum ‘Rembrandt’ White

Cyclamen persicum ‘Rembrandt’ White is a beautiful silver-leaved florist cyclamen with crisp white flowers held above richly patterned foliage. The combination of bright flowers and heavily silvered leaves gives this variety a particularly elegant look, making it as attractive for its foliage as for its blooms.

Supplied in a 12cm nursery pot at approximately 25cm tall, this compact flowering plant is perfect for windowsills, side tables and other cool, bright spots indoors during autumn and winter.

Light & Position

Place in bright, filtered or indirect light. A cool windowsill with plenty of natural light is ideal, but avoid prolonged harsh direct sun.

Cyclamen prefer cooler rooms and will generally flower for longer away from radiators, fireplaces and other sources of hot, dry air.

Watering

Keep the compost lightly moist while the plant is actively growing and flowering, allowing the surface to begin drying slightly between waterings.

Water around the edge of the pot rather than directly into the centre of the plant, and allow excess water to drain away fully. Avoid leaving the pot sitting in water, as the tuber is susceptible to rot if kept too wet.

Temperature

Cyclamen persicum prefers cool indoor conditions. A bright, cooler room will usually help flowers and foliage remain attractive for longer than a very warm living space.

This is a florist cyclamen and is not reliably hardy outdoors in the UK. Protect it from frost and freezing temperatures.

Feeding

Feed approximately every two weeks with a low-nitrogen liquid fertiliser while the plant is actively growing and flowering. Reduce feeding once flowering begins to finish.

Flowering & Deadheading

Remove faded flowers and yellowing leaves by gently twisting and pulling the entire stem away from the base rather than cutting it halfway down. This helps keep the crown clean and encourages the plant to continue producing flowers.

After Flowering

As flowering finishes, the plant may naturally begin to die back and enter a period of dormancy. Gradually reduce watering as the leaves yellow. Plants can sometimes be encouraged to regrow after their summer rest, although many people enjoy florist cyclamen primarily as a long-lasting seasonal flowering houseplant.
