Crassula pellucida subsp. marginalis 'Variegata', better known as Calico Kitten, is one of the most beautiful trailing succulents you can grow. Native to South Africa, this charming variety is prized for its tiny heart-shaped leaves, marbled with shades of cream, green and soft pink. In bright light, the pink colouring becomes even more vibrant, creating a spectacular cascade of colour that's unlike almost any other houseplant.
Its delicate trailing stems make Calico Kitten perfect for displaying in hanging planters, on shelves or cascading over the edge of a decorative pot. Although it looks delicate, this drought-tolerant succulent is wonderfully easy to care for and makes an excellent choice for both beginners and experienced collectors. Given plenty of sunshine, mature plants may even produce clusters of tiny star-shaped white flowers.
Crassula belongs to the Crassulaceae family, a group of around 300 succulent species renowned for their ability to store water in their fleshy leaves. The name Crassula comes from the Latin word crassus, meaning "thick" – a fitting reference to the plump, water-storing foliage that allows these plants to thrive in dry conditions.

How to care for Calico Kitten
Light: Prefers a bright position with plenty of indirect light and a few hours of gentle direct sun. Brighter conditions encourage the strongest pink colouring.
Water: Allow the compost to dry before watering thoroughly. Reduce watering during autumn and winter, and never allow the plant to sit in water.
Feeding: Feed monthly during spring and summer with a cactus and succulent fertiliser.
Pet friendly: We recommend keeping houseplants out of reach of pets and children.

Care Instructions
Light
Prefers bright light and will happily tolerate direct sunshine. During the hottest part of summer, avoid prolonged scorching midday sun behind south-facing glass.
Water
Water thoroughly, then allow the compost to dry out completely before watering again. Water less during winter, allowing the compost to remain dry for longer.
Food
Feed once a month during spring and summer with a quality liquid plant food. There is no need to feed during winter.
Humidity
This plant thrives in normal household humidity and does not require misting or additional humidity.
