Consolea rubescens (17cm pot)
Roadkill Cactus
🚚 Free UK shipping on orders over £50 🪴
Consolea rubescens, commonly known as the Roadkill Cactus, is one of the most unusual and conversation-worthy cacti you can grow. Its flattened, irregular paddles and almost spineless appearance give it a distinctive sculptural form that stands out from more traditional cactus varieties.
Native to the Caribbean, this fascinating cactus develops broad, bumpy segments that can resemble flattened leaves or paddles. Mature plants may produce attractive orange flowers from the tips of their stems, adding seasonal interest to this already striking specimen.
Despite its exotic appearance, Consolea rubescens is surprisingly easy to care for. It thrives in a bright position with plenty of light and requires very little water. Like most cacti, it prefers to dry out between waterings and is happiest in a free-draining compost.
Plant Care:
• Position: Bright indirect light or direct sun
• Watering: Allow compost to dry between waterings
• Humidity: Prefers a dry environment
• Feeding: Apply a cactus feed during spring and summer
• Easy care and drought tolerant
