Calatheas – sometimes identified under the Geoppertia genus – are among the most recognisable tropical houseplants. They naturally grow across the warm, shaded forest floor in South America and are appreciated for their decorative foliage and gentle movement.
Part of the Marantaceae family, Calatheas are known for raising and lowering their leaves in response to light changes, a behaviour called nastic movement. They are also a great pet-friendly option, making them ideal for homes with cats or dogs.

Care Instructions
Light
Position out of any direct sunight! If in a shadier spot, the plant will offer less growth and require less water.
Water
Thoroughly water, then allow the top 3 to 4cm of compost to dry before re-watering. Water less in winter when the plant is growing more slowly. Over-watering can cause root rot.
Food
Feed every second time you water through spring and summer with a quality liquid plant food. There is no need to feed this plant in winter.
Humidity
This plant enjoys humidity. Place in a bathroom and/or mist regularly with water.
