Calathea ornata (11cm pot)
Pin Stripe Calathea
🚚 Free UK shipping on orders over £50 🪴
Calathea ornata is a striking tropical houseplant with dark green leaves decorated with fine pink pinstripes. Its beautifully patterned foliage makes it an eye-catching choice for adding colour and texture to your indoor plant collection.
Native to the tropical rainforests of South America, Calatheas are part of the Marantaceae family, often known as prayer plants. Their leaves naturally move in response to changing light levels throughout the day, a fascinating behaviour known as nastic movement.
Light & Position
Prefers bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, which can fade the leaf markings and scorch the foliage.
Watering
Keep the compost lightly moist, allowing the top layer to dry slightly between waterings. Avoid letting the plant sit in water.
Humidity
Enjoys higher humidity and will appreciate being kept away from radiators, cold draughts and very dry air.
Why you'll love it
- Beautiful pink-striped foliage
- Leaves move naturally throughout the day
- Adds colour and pattern to indoor spaces
- Pet-friendly houseplant
