Calathea ‘Freddie’ is a striking foliage houseplant with bright green leaves patterned in deeper green brush-stroke markings. The leaves stand tall on upright stems, creating a graceful, lively display that instantly draws the eye.
Native to the tropical rainforests of South America, the Calathea genus (also known as Goeppertia) includes some of the most recognisable houseplants in the world. Calathea ‘Freddie’ is admired for its vibrant foliage and its ability to gently move its leaves throughout the day in response to light — a fascinating behaviour known as nastic movement.
This tropical variety thrives in bright, indirect light and enjoys evenly moist soil and higher humidity. It’s also completely non-toxic, making it a great pet-friendly houseplant.

Care Instructions
Light
Position out of any direct sunight! If in a shadier spot, the plant will offer less growth and require less water.
Water
Thoroughly water, then allow the top 3 to 4cm of compost to dry before re-watering. Water less in winter when the plant is growing more slowly. Over-watering can cause root rot.
Food
Feed every second time you water through spring and summer with a quality liquid plant food. There is no need to feed this plant in winter.
Humidity
This plant enjoys humidity. Place in a bathroom and/or mist regularly with water.
