add a pot to fit this plant

Begonia ‘Inca Flame’ is a colourful foliage houseplant with richly coloured red leaves and a striking metallic sheen. Shades of crimson, burgundy and warm copper catch the light across its textured foliage, bringing warmth and drama to shelves, desks and indoor plant displays.

Supplied in a 12cm nursery pot at approximately 20–25cm tall, ‘Inca Flame’ delivers plenty of colour in a compact plant. Pair it with a simple decorative pot to let the foliage shine, or display it alongside green and silver-leaved houseplants for a beautiful contrast.

What Makes ‘Inca Flame’ Special?

Part of the Beleaf begonia collection, ‘Inca Flame’ is grown for its richly coloured, iridescent foliage. The leaves have a luminous quality that changes with the light, giving this small houseplant a particularly eye-catching presence.

Its warm red tones make it a lovely choice for autumn and festive displays, with foliage to enjoy throughout the year. Small flowers may occasionally appear, but the leaves are the main attraction.

Light & Position

Position in bright, indirect or filtered light to show off the foliage at its best. Avoid strong direct sunshine, which can scorch the leaves, and very dark corners where growth may become weaker.

A bright spot away from cold draughts and radiators is ideal. Leave a little space around the plant so air can circulate freely through the foliage.

Watering

Water when the top 1–2cm of compost feels dry, then allow excess water to drain away completely. Aim for lightly moist compost beneath the surface without leaving the roots sitting in water.

Direct water onto the compost rather than over the leaves or into the centre of the plant. Avoid letting the root ball dry out completely, and water less frequently in autumn and winter when growth slows.

Humidity & Temperature

‘Inca Flame’ appreciates moderate to high humidity and a comfortably warm room with a steady temperature. Keep away from cold windows, draughts and the drying heat of radiators.

A bathroom with good natural light can work well, or use a humidifier if your home is particularly dry. Avoid misting directly onto the foliage and provide gentle air circulation to help keep the leaves healthy.

Feeding

Feed during spring and summer while actively growing, using a liquid fertiliser suitable for begonias and following the product's recommended dilution and frequency. Reduce or stop feeding during autumn and winter when growth slows.

Growth & Care

‘Inca Flame’ forms a compact, leafy plant, gradually filling out as fresh foliage develops. Remove faded or damaged leaves with clean scissors to keep the plant tidy.

Repot when the roots have filled the nursery pot, ideally in spring, moving up just one pot size. Use a free-draining houseplant compost and a pot with drainage holes, keeping the base of the plant at its original depth.

Small flowers can be enjoyed or removed if you prefer a foliage-only display; removing them is optional.
