Aster ‘Starletta’ Mix

Aster ‘Starletta’ is a compact, autumn-flowering Michaelmas Daisy covered in masses of cheerful daisy-like flowers with bright yellow centres. Supplied as a mixed-colour selection, Starletta brings an instant splash of late-season colour to pots, window boxes, balconies and garden borders.

At approximately 25cm tall in a 12cm nursery pot, these are neat, bushy plants that are ideal for adding colour just as many summer plants are beginning to fade. The single flowers are also valuable to bees and other pollinating insects visiting the garden in late summer and autumn.

Flower Colour

Starletta is supplied as a mixed-colour crop. Flower colours may include shades of blue-purple, pink, red and white, depending on the plants available in each delivery.

Light & Position

Grow outdoors in full sun or light partial shade. A bright position encourages the strongest flowering and helps keep the plant compact and bushy.

Starletta works particularly well in patio pots, window boxes and mixed autumn containers, but can also be planted into a garden border.

Watering

Keep the compost reasonably moist while the plant is actively growing and flowering, particularly when grown in a container. Water when the surface begins to dry, allowing excess water to drain freely.

Avoid leaving the pot permanently waterlogged.

Flowering & Deadheading

Starletta produces masses of single daisy-like flowers during late summer and autumn. Regularly removing faded flower heads will keep the plant looking tidy and can encourage it to continue flowering for longer.

After Flowering

This is a hardy perennial rather than a disposable bedding plant. After flowering, the top growth will naturally die back as winter approaches. Plants grown in the ground can be cut back and allowed to regrow the following spring.

Container-grown plants can also be kept from year to year, although they are best protected from prolonged waterlogging during winter.
