Asplenium nidus ‘Crispy Wave’, commonly known as the Bird’s Nest Fern, is a distinctive fern with glossy, fresh-green fronds that emerge from a central rosette and develop beautifully rippled, crimped edges as they grow.
Its bold, sculptural shape gives it a very different look from softer, feathery ferns, making ‘Crispy Wave’ particularly good for shelves, sideboards, desks and bright bathrooms.
Light & Position
Prefers bright, indirect or filtered light. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, which can scorch the fronds, and very dark positions where growth may become weak.
A bright bathroom or kitchen can work especially well thanks to the naturally higher humidity.
Watering
Keep the compost lightly and evenly moist, allowing the upper layer to begin drying slightly before watering again. Avoid letting the plant dry out completely for prolonged periods, but never leave the roots sitting in waterlogged compost.
Water around the edge of the pot rather than directly into the central rosette, as water sitting in the crown can encourage rot.
Humidity & Temperature
‘Crispy Wave’ appreciates moderate to higher humidity and warm, stable indoor conditions, ideally above around 15°C. Keep away from cold draughts, radiators and other direct heat sources.
Regular misting is not essential; good surrounding humidity and consistent watering are more important.
Feeding
Feed lightly approximately once a month during spring and summer with a balanced liquid houseplant fertiliser at reduced strength while the plant is actively growing. Reduce or stop feeding during autumn and winter.
Leaf Care
Remove old or damaged fronds at the base when necessary. The broad leaves can also be gently wiped with a soft damp cloth if dust begins to collect.

Care Instructions
Light
Prefers indirect bright light but can tolerate a shadier spot in your home where it will grow more slowly. Too much direct sunlight can result in scorched leaves.
Water
Water thoroughly, then allow the top 2–3cm of compost to dry before watering again. Avoid allowing the compost to become completely dry or waterlogged.
Food
Feed every second time you water through spring and summer with a quality liquid plant food. There is no need to feed this plant in winter.
Humidity
This plant enjoys humidity. Place in a bathroom and/or mist every so often with water. Remove dust from the leaves with a damp cloth to improve photosynthesis.
