Alocasia zebrina is a true statement plant, instantly recognisable for its bold, tiger-striped stems and glossy, arrow-shaped leaves. A standout species in the Alocasia genus, it adds striking architectural form and tropical character to any indoor plant collection.
Commonly known as the Elephant Ear Plant, Alocasia zebrina is native to the rainforests of Southeast Asia, where it thrives in warmth, humidity and bright, filtered light. Its tuberous rhizomes store water and nutrients, allowing it to withstand brief dry spells — but making it sensitive to overwatering in cooler UK homes.
Allow the top few centimetres of soil to dry between waterings and ensure good drainage to prevent root rot. Keep in a consistently warm spot above 16°C and feed monthly in spring and summer to support growth.

Care Instructions
Light
Prefers moderate to bright, indirect light. Too much direct sunlight can result in scorched leaves.
Water
Water thoroughly, then allow the top half of the compost to dry out completely before rewatering. This plant stores water and therefore overwatering can cause root rot.
Food
Apply a high quality liquid fertiliser fortnightly in the spring and summer. Do not feed in the autumn and winter months.
Humidity
This plant enjoys high humidity. Place in a bathroom and/or mist regularly with water. Or place on a pebble tray filled with water just below the top of the pebbles.
