Alocasia 'Regal Shields'

Alocasia ‘Regal Shields’ is an impressive tropical houseplant with large, shield-shaped leaves in deep, velvety green, contrasted by rich purple undersides. Its bold foliage and upright architectural growth make it a superb statement plant for larger indoor spaces.

Commonly known as an Elephant Ear, ‘Regal Shields’ is particularly prized for the dramatic colour and scale of its foliage. As the plant matures, the leaves can become increasingly large, creating a lush, tropical look without taking up too much floor space.

Light & Position

Prefers bright, indirect light. Avoid prolonged strong direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves, and keep the plant in a warm position away from cold draughts.

Watering

Allow the top layer of compost to dry slightly between waterings, then water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain away. Alocasias grow from tuberous rhizomes that store moisture, so they are particularly sensitive to prolonged wet compost.

Humidity & Temperature

Keep in a warm room, ideally above 16°C. Moderate to higher humidity is beneficial, but consistent warmth, good light and careful watering are most important for healthy growth.
