Alocasia micholitziana ‘Frydek’ Variegata
🚚 Free UK shipping on orders over £50 🪴
Alocasia micholitziana 'Frydek' Variegata is one of the most coveted variegated houseplants, prized for its luxurious velvety foliage and dramatic creamy white variegation. The rich, deep green leaves are beautifully contrasted by crisp white markings and striking pale veins, creating an elegant architectural display. As with all naturally variegated plants, every specimen is completely unique.
Commonly known as the Variegated Green Velvet Alocasia, this exceptional cultivar is a form of Alocasia micholitziana, a species native to the tropical forests of the Philippines. Growing beneath the rainforest canopy, it thrives in warm, humid conditions with bright, indirect light. Its compact growth habit and velvety foliage make it one of the most desirable Alocasia available.
Like other Alocasia, 'Frydek' grows from underground rhizomes that store water and nutrients. It performs best in a warm position above 16°C with bright, indirect light, high humidity and a free-draining compost. Allow the top layer of compost to dry slightly before watering, taking extra care not to overwater during the cooler months.
A true collector's plant, Alocasia 'Frydek' Variegata brings outstanding texture, contrast and tropical character to any indoor plant collection, making a spectacular statement whether displayed on its own or amongst other rare foliage plants.

Care Instructions
Light
Prefers moderate to bright, indirect light. Too much direct sunlight can result in scorched leaves.
Water
Water thoroughly, then allow the top half of the compost to dry out completely before rewatering. This plant stores water and therefore overwatering can cause root rot.
Food
Apply a high quality liquid fertiliser fortnightly in the spring and summer. Do not feed in the autumn and winter months.
Humidity
This plant enjoys high humidity. Place in a bathroom and/or mist regularly with water. Or place on a pebble tray filled with water just below the top of the pebbles.
