Aglaonema 'Pinky Promise'

Aglaonema ‘Pinky Promise’, commonly known as a Chinese Evergreen, is a colourful compact houseplant with glossy leaves patterned in fresh green and vibrant shades of pink. Each leaf develops its own mix of colour, creating a bright, tropical display that works particularly well on shelves, desks and smaller plant stands.

Supplied in a 9cm nursery pot at approximately 15cm+ tall, ‘Pinky Promise’ is an easy-going choice for adding colour without taking up too much space. Aglaonemas are well known for adapting to typical indoor conditions, making this an excellent plant for beginners as well as established houseplant collections.

Light & Position

For the strongest pink colouring, position Aglaonema ‘Pinky Promise’ in bright, indirect or filtered light. It will tolerate somewhat lower light levels, although the foliage may become greener and growth can slow.

Avoid prolonged strong direct sunshine through glass, which can scorch or fade the leaves. A warm position away from cold draughts is ideal.

Watering

Allow the upper few centimetres of compost to dry before watering thoroughly, then allow all excess water to drain away. Aglaonemas prefer to dry slightly between waterings and should not be left sitting in waterlogged compost.

Water less frequently during autumn and winter when growth naturally slows.

Humidity & Temperature

Aglaonema ‘Pinky Promise’ appreciates moderate humidity but adapts well to normal indoor conditions. Keep it in a warm room and away from cold draughts, radiators and sudden temperature changes.

Occasionally wiping the leaves with a soft damp cloth will remove dust and keep the colourful foliage looking its best.

Feeding

Feed regularly during spring and summer while the plant is actively growing using a balanced liquid houseplant fertiliser. Reduce or stop feeding during autumn and winter.

Growth & Care

‘Pinky Promise’ has a naturally compact, leafy growth habit and gradually produces fresh foliage from the centre and base of the plant. Its manageable size makes it particularly useful where you want plenty of colour without the plant becoming too large.

As it matures, repot when the roots have comfortably filled the nursery pot, ideally during spring or summer, using a free-draining houseplant compost.
