Scindapsus pictus ‘Argyraeus’, commonly known as Satin Pothos, is a beautiful trailing houseplant with soft, heart-shaped green leaves decorated with distinctive silver markings and a subtle satin sheen.

Supplied in a 14cm pot with a removable clip-on hanger, it can be displayed as a hanging plant or used as a standard potted plant on a shelf, plant stand or high ledge. Its flexible growth habit makes it easy to style in a range of indoor spaces.

Light & Position

Prefers moderate to bright, indirect or filtered light. Good light helps maintain the strongest silver markings, while plants kept in lower light may become greener and grow more slowly. Avoid prolonged strong direct sunlight, which can scorch the foliage.

Watering

Allow the upper 2–3cm of compost to dry before watering thoroughly, then let excess water drain away. Avoid keeping the compost permanently wet. Reduce watering during winter as growth slows.

Humidity & Temperature

Scindapsus pictus appreciates warm, stable indoor conditions and moderate humidity but adapts well to normal household environments. Keep away from cold draughts and direct heat sources.

Trailing or Climbing?

Leave the clip-on hanger attached for a cascading display, remove it and position the plant on a high shelf, or train the stems upwards on a moss or coir pole. Scindapsus is naturally a climbing plant and can develop larger, more mature foliage when given support.

Feeding

Feed approximately once a month during spring and summer with a balanced liquid houseplant fertiliser while the plant is actively growing. Reduce or stop feeding during winter.

Pruning & Growth

Trim longer stems whenever needed to control the shape or encourage fuller branching. Healthy stem cuttings can also be propagated to create new plants.

Why You'll Love It

  • Velvety green leaves with distinctive silver markings
  • Established trailing growth
  • Removable clip-on hanger for flexible display
  • Can be grown as either a trailing or climbing plant
  • Tolerates moderate light
  • Easy-going and relatively low maintenance

Pet & Child Safety

Scindapsus pictus contains insoluble calcium oxalates and can be harmful if eaten. Keep out of reach of pets and young children.
